The Northampton County Health Department is working hard to protect and improve the health of the people who live in our community. From childhood shots to septic tank system inspections, it provides a wide range of services to meet the needs of our citizens.
It's a big job but our team of health care professionals is able to meet the challenge. The team includes the Board of Health, Health Director, Nurses, Nutritionists, Maternity Care Coordinator, Health Educators, Environmental Health Specialists, Rabies Control Officer, Laboratory Staff, Management Support Staff, and Social Workers.

Vision
The promoters' vision of Northampton County Health Department in 3-4 year's time is:
“An enhanced, culturally sensitive healthcare organization that provides and assures quality, caring services. We are a well-respected and renowned organization of culturally competent medical personnel that utilizes “best practices” as a framework for public healthcare management.” |
Mission Statement
The central purpose and role of Northampton County Health Department is defined as:
“We provide clinical, educational, and home health services, promote health, prevent disease, and protect the environment, with the goal of ensuring optimal public health for all citizens of Northampton County through leadership, vision, advocacy, and commitment of public health practice in our community and throughout the State.” |
Major Goals
The following key targets will be achieved by Northampton County Health Department over the next 3-4 years:
- 1. Competently, adequately and appropriately trained staff
- 2. Structural improvement, more storage, and modified access to clinic areas; obtain mobile unit for satellite clinics
- 3. Establish a dental program and maintain existing programs
- 4. Become financially stable
- 5. Develop a marketing plan and hire a marketing coordinator
- 6. Enhance communications between Health Department programs
- 7. Adequately and appropriately staff all programs in the Health Department
